1st Champalimaud Cancer Nurse Conference
Nurses aim to provide care of excellence, and knowledge plays a crucial role in this. The combination of knowledge, innovation and technology is a reality in the Champalimaud Clinical Centre, and so it falls to the nurses to provide a warm reception, always available to others.
Following the oncological disease cycle, this meeting was intended to discuss risk, early diagnosis and the role of clinical trials in current practice. Interdisciplinarity throughout all phases of the illness, and nursing interventions aimed at humanising the care of the person and the family, are some of the topics covered. To conclude, we reflect upon the new challenges in modern oncology that lead us to consider the patient’s home as the hospital of the future.
