Ana Catarina Certal, from the Champalimaud Foundation, was elected member of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association Executive Board
For the first time in the history of this association, created 10 years ago in the United States of America and with members in more than 15 countries, a non-American president was nominated and elected.
Upon being elected, Ana Catarina Certal, Head of the Fish Platform, head of the Molecular and Transgenic Tools Platform and responsible for the Scientific Development of Platforms at the Champalimaud Foundation, will be President-elect of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association in 2017, and will become President in 2018.
The Zebrafish Husbandry Association is a non-profit organisation devoted to promoting and developing zebrafish husbandry standards through: education, collaboration and publication.
The Portuguese scientist was nominated by the association members and this is recognition of the important...work that she has been developing, not only in the establishment of one of the best and most advanced zebrafish husbandries in the world, here at the Champalimaud Foundation, but also through the publication of innovative results and active participation in the definition of the best practices for vivariums of this animal model, that, by its characteristics, assumes an increasing importance in current scientific research.
