ESGAR Learning Centre at Champalimaud Foundation

The promotion of education and research among young people is one of Champalimaud Foundation’s key objectives. It is for this reason that we have a partnership with ESGAR (European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology) to invest in the future of our work, by establishing a Learning Centre here at the Champalimaud Foundation.
The next seminar will be on 9 – 10 December of this year, focussing on the use of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), a significant breakthrough in sonography which is increasingly used for evaluation of abdominal disease. At the moment, CEUS is part of the suggested diagnostic work-up of focal liver lesions (FLL), translating as a more effective therapy, both in terms of cost and patient management.
After a thorough description of the technique, and under the guidance of experienced professionals (T.V. Bartolotta and D. A. Clevert), contrast-enhancement patterns of different types of benign and malignant FLLs will be described and discussed.
The most recent concepts and the use of CEUS in different clinical settings outside the liver will also be presented.
Correlation with pathology and other imaging modalities will be also presented, when necessary, in view of a complete and meaningful diagnostic algorithm.
