Fatima Cardoso. Director of the Champalimaud Breast Unit, receives BCRF grant-award.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) finances a project led by Fatima Cardoso, Secretary-General of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and Director of the Champalimaud Breast Unit.
On October 15th, the Symposium and Lunch for the BCRF Award Winners took place in New York, with participation from over 12000 invited and distinguished breast cancer researchers.
The Director of the Champalimaud Breast Unit, Fatima Cardoso, was present as one of the researchers recognised with a grant award from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The BCRF is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of breast cancer through the financing of clinical and translational research and the raising of public awareness of this disease. It plays an important role around the world in attracting funds for breast cancer investigation.
The BCRF currently finances around 220 international projects, including the work led by Fatima Cardoso as part of the International Programme of Breast Cancer in Men. In a joint effort between various institutions including the Breast International Group (BIG) and the North American Breast Cancer Groups (NABCG), and with coordination from the EURTC, this project aims to make a clinical impact in the area of male breast cancer.
