The Champalimaud Centre continues to innovate on the front line of healthcare, welcoming this state of the art CT scanner today. This Philips iQon spectral CT scanner is the first of its kind in Iberia, and one of only 12 in the whole world. It will allow imaging of patients to occur more quickly, reducing the need for multiple scans and repositioning, thus reducing radiation exposure time. And it is much more accurate than anything we’ve seen before, allowing our team to examine in greater detail and with higher contrast. Faster. Safer. More precise.

Prof. Celso Matos is responsible for the research and development of imaging tools here at the Champalimaud Clinical Centre: "This new technology allows for the extraction of multi-parametric data and tissue characterisation from a single diagnostic modality. It also means that we can fine-tune qualitative imaging data in order to provide better diagnoses. Better tools and better data, ultimately and most importantly, will improve patient outcomes, particularly in an oncological setting, so we are very pleased to have this cutting-edge technology available here at the Champalimaud Clinical Centre."
