This week we spoke to a very important member of our team: she makes sure that the gardens surrounding the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown look beautiful on a daily basis.

Paula Preciosa is our gardener in charge of all green places: the surrounding gardens, the Zen chemotherapy garden and the tropical garden, in the centre of the main building.

Paula has been with us since last year and since then she has worked hard to make our green spaces as enjoyable as possible.

She also keeps an eye on the riverside walkway, providing all those who pass by with a wonderful space looking over the city.

Paul's favourite place is the tropical garden, a leafy sanctuary accessible through the clinical centre and used by patients, family members, doctors and researchers.

"When we love what we do, we work with greater energy and with dedication. Here at the Champalimaud Foundation people really like to work. At the end of the day, I think that this is what brings us the greatest serenity and pleasure!"
