With profound sadness at the passing of Professor Jorge Cruz, we pay tribute to our colleague and our friend. He will be remembered not only as a surgeon but also for his enduring legacy as a teacher, mentor, and guide. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Since 2012, Professor Jorge Cruz led the team of surgeons in the Lung Unit of the Champalimaud Clinical Centre, where he distinguished himself through his commitment to patients and his passion for advancing care. Beyond his surgical practice, he devoted himself to the training of future generations of doctors, instilling in them the importance of both basic and clinical research as the foundation for progress in modern medicine.
