On 22–23 May 2026, the International Rectal Cancer Meeting - “50 Years of Total Mesorectal Excision: Celebrating the Legacy of Bill Heald” will bring leading experts to the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown in Lisbon to mark this milestone and explore what lies ahead.

In this seminar, I will present recent advances developed in our laboratory in CAR-based adoptive T-cell immunotherapy, with a particular focuss on leukemia. The talk will highlight γδ T cells as allogeneic effector platforms and explore emerging dual-targeting and armored CAR strategies.

The first edition of the Botton-Champalimaud International Pancreatic Conference, hosted at the prestigious Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre, was a landmark event in 2024, bringing together leading experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world to discuss the latest advancements in pancreatic cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care.
The symposium, themed "Neural and Immune Codes in Cancer" will gather an interdisciplinary community of researchers to discuss the interplay between the neural and immune systems in relation to cancer initiation, progression, defense and therapy. This symposium will emphasise the dynamic interactions among tumour cells, neurons and immune components, and how these relationships impact tumour growth, metastasis and the tumour microenvironment.
