10th António Champalimaud Trophy Regatta

One again the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown’s anniversary was celebrated, on the 5th of October, with a regatta: the 10th António Champalimaud Trophy.

As always this event was organised in collaboration with the Lisbon Naval Association (ANL).

With a record number of 60 boats participating, this Sunday the wind played a trick on us with a “no show”. Nevertheless, due to the expertise of the skippers and respective crews, all boats managed to reach the finishing line. Staying true to the regatta's spirit and traditions, around 16 Champalimaud Foundation collaborators were able to participate as “kind helpers” or experienced sailors.

Our President welcomed all the sailors who showed up at the Champalimaud Foundation’s amphitheatre for the prizes' attribution ceremony, which this year included the 2020 and 2021 winners.

In the end, a cocktail was served and the 160 participating sailors were as enthusiastic and happy as ever, as the chosen venue was much appreciated. Rosa Reis, a photographer who has been covering this event since day one, took some fantastic photos of the regatta and the prize ceremony.

Hopefully next year the wind will be on our side. Because, this year, all the rest was close to perfect!
